County to host Proposition 47 stakeholder input and local advisory committee meeting

November 28, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Mental Health Services will host a Proposition 47 stakeholder input and local advisory committee meeting to identify the needs for misdemeanor and post-incarcerated individuals on Thursday, December 1 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Room located at 2101 Courage Drive in Fairfield.

After the community has had a chance to provide input, the local advisory committee will submit a request for funding to the Board of State and Community Corrections.  The goal is to fund programs in the County that have been identified through a comprehensive stakeholder process and special needs assessment.

Pursuant to Proposition 47, this grant is to provide mental health services, substance use disorder treatment and diversion programs for people in the criminal justice system.  The grant program may also provide housing-related assistance and other community-based supportive services, including job skills training, case management and civil legal services. The grant can fund programs that serve adults and/or juveniles.

If Solano County is successful and receives grant funding, the local advisory committee will oversee the implementation of grant funded programming, with at least 50 percent to be contracted to locally based community organizations.

Everyone is welcome to attend to provide input, suggestions and feedback on the process.
