County to launch one-stop resource website for seniors

July 12, 2017

SOLANO COUNTY – Starting on Tuesday, July 18, the Solano County Department of Health and Social Services will launch a free, "one-stop resource" website designed specifically for seniors, their families, caregivers and service providers.

The website, SolanoCares4Seniors.org, is a user-friendly portal of resources designed specifically with seniors in mind.  The website includes a directory of local services, a social events calendar, and a library of educational resources – all designed to enhance the public's understanding of specific health issues and provide tips for healthy living.

“The community has been looking forward to a resource that accommodates our seniors, and SolanoCares4Seniors does just that,” says Jim Spering, Solano County District 3 Supervisor.  “The website streamlines the search for trustworthy information by giving people the power to access programs, services and resources in their community.”

Developed in collaboration with the Senior Coalition of Solano County and the Area Agency on Aging, the website is designed to meet the needs of seniors based on years of input from the community.

SolanoCares4Seniors.org is a one-stop resource designed to inform, connect and empower seniors.  The website includes service listings for Alzheimer’s, housing, transportation, healthcare and much more.  Users have access to daily news clippings, pending legislation and means to contact local officials.

“Our ultimate goal is to direct seniors to the information they need quickly and efficiently,” said Dr. Bela Matyas, M.D., Solano County’s Public Health Officer.  “We know that searching for relevant and trustworthy information can sometimes be overwhelming.  This website consolidates all of the resources seniors need by offering a vast array of support for our older population, their families and caregivers.”

SolanoCares4Seniors is a free community resource, is fully ADA-compliant and available in multiple languages.  For more information, contact Shai Davis, Senior Health Education Specialist at (707) 784-8679 and [email protected].
