Director’s Association honors Solano County with 2019 Outstanding Child Support award

May 17, 2019

SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Department of Child Support Services has been honored as the 2019 Outstanding Child Support Program by the Child Support Director's Association (CDSA).

The Solano County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), the agency that oversees the establishment and enforcement of child support for the County, developed supportive systems to encourage employee investment and longevity. A new training team was developed to provide continual professional development for all employees.  In addition, a guiding coalition was created to communicate the Department's vision and values to their colleagues, customers and the community.

"This award acknowledges the outstanding work of our dedicated staff," said Pamela Posehn, Director, Solano County Department of Child Support Services. “We are here to serve the community by working with both parents during what can be a difficult time, to bring resources to children to help them succeed.”

This investment in employees and program improvement led to several accomplishments, including a partnership with the Solano County Workforce Development Board and Superior Court of California to assist unemployed and under-employed parents. DCSS also focused employment outreach efforts on formerly incarcerated individuals helping them find and maintain employment.  The department was also able to reduce the time from case opening to first payment by 26 days.

“The Solano County Department of Child Support Services has created an efficient model of innovation with rich employee devotion and community respect,” said Greg Wilson, Executive Director of the Child Support Directors Association. “This honor is a testament to the innovation of Solano County Department of Child Support Services.”

This honor is given annually to a child support agency that consistently exemplifies quality child support services to its constituency and community and is presented by the Child Support Directors Association, the leading organization honoring excellence in the child support program. CSDA, which nominates and selects the award winners, is comprised of local child support Directors and their employees.

Solano County DCSS was honored at the thirteenth annual CDSA awards ceremony on Wednesday May 1, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency in Garden Grove, California.
