Solano Agricultural Department now accepting applications for new Ag Pass program
April 5, 2023  SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the County's newly adopted Ag Pass program. The Board of Supervisors recently approved the program to proactively help the local agricultural community prepare for natural disasters. The program trains and preemptively issues a pass to commercial farmers, ranchers, ag processors and horse stable operators so they may enter evacuation areas to care for crops and livestock during emergency events.

County selected to join the Safety and Justice Challenge IMPACT Network focused on reducing over-incarceration of individuals with behavioral health needs
March 28, 2023  SOLANO COUNTY –– County officials are pleased to announce that Solano County has been selected to join the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's Safety and Justice Challenge: IMPACT Network. The national initiative is aimed at leveraging behavioral health strategies to reduce over-incarceration of individuals with behavioral health needs and eliminating racial inequities that persist in the local criminal justice system. Solano County will be participating starting March 24, 2023 through December 2024.

Solano County improves in tobacco policies; more needs to be done
March 24, 2023  When it comes to local laws preventing exposure to second-hand smoke of tobacco products, Solano County and its cities has made some improvements over the past year according to the American Lung Association's (ALA) annual report card, however, there is still more work that needs to be done.

Solano Public Health receives grant for car seat safety education program
November 8, 2022  SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Department of Health and Social Services, Public Health division, is excited to announce receipt of a $125,000 grant award from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to expand its popular car seat safety education program. In addition to supporting local parents and caregivers to learn proper car seat safety installation and utilization, the increased funding from the OTS grant over the next twelve months will allow the program to expand its virtual reach.

Solano Probation department awarded grant to supervise people with multiple DUI convictions
November 3, 2022  SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Probation Department received funds for an intensive probation supervision program for high-risk DUI offenders with multiple DUI convictions.
