West Nile virus activity detected in Solano County
July 25, 2024  SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Department of Health and Social Services, Public Health division, in coordination with the Solano County Mosquito Abatement District (SCMAD) have confirmed that a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) on July 19, 2024, in Rio Vista. As of that date, the California Department of Public Health reports that there are no human cases of WNV.

Vallejo Early Learning Center receives $1 million grant donation from Syar Foundation, benefiting families, including Solano County’s youngest residents
July 23, 2024  SOLANO COUNTY – The Syar Foundation has awarded a $1 million dollar grant donation to the Vallejo Early Learning Center to renovate and outfit a multipurpose room as part of the project. The space will be named the "Syar Foundation Multi-Purpose Room."

California Forever withdraws proposed ballot measure, will not proceed with election in November
July 22, 2024  SOLANO COUNTY – In a letter released earlier today, Mitch Mashburn, District 5 Supervisor and Chair of the Board of Supervisors, stated that California Forever has agreed to withdraw the ballot measure for the East Solano Plan, and will not proceed to the election in November. The decision came after a discussion took place between Chair Mashburn and Jan Sramek, Founder and CEO of California Forever, who said they will now apply for a General Plan and Zoning Amendment and proceed with the normal County process for the negotiation and execution of a development agreement.

Board of Supervisors to Receive Report on Impacts of California Forever Initiative
July 18, 2024  SOLANO COUNTY – At their meeting on Tuesday, July 23 in the Board Chambers, located at 675 Texas Street in Fairfield, starting at 2 p.m., the Department of Resource Management and the County Administrator's Office will present the Solano County Board of Supervisors with a report, prepared in accordance with California Elections Code section 9111, on the impacts to Solano County from the "REZONING OF 17,500 ACRES OF LAND IN EAST SOLANO COUNTY TO ALLOW DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW COMMUNITY" Initiative (also known as “California Forever” or “East Solano Plan”) The report was ordered by the Board at its June 25 meeting to provide information about the fiscal, land use, infrastructure, business and employment, agriculture, and other impacts of the proposed new community.
