ROV installs 24-hour official ballot drop-box; increasing access for those who choose to vote by mail

March 10, 2022

SOLANO COUNTY – Starting today, in preparation for the 2022 election cycle, the Solano County Registrar of Voters (ROV) has installed a 24-hour official drop-box outside the County Administration Center, located at 675 Texas Street in Fairfield, giving voters the option to drop off their ballots in a safe and secure location, at a date and time that is convenient for them.

“Approximately 90 percent of Solano County’s registered voters choose to vote their ballot by mail,” says Tim Flanagan, Solano County Chief Information Officer and Registrar of Voters.  “As we approach the 2022 election cycle, we continue to look for ways to expand official ballot drop-off locations throughout the County, and this new, safe and secure, 24-hour official ballot drop-box is just the beginning.”

All Solano County registered voters will receive a vote by mail ballot in the mail.  Voters will have opportunities to return their ballot by mail, at multiple drop-box locations throughout the County, or in-person at their assigned polling location on Election Day.  It is important to note, all ballots cast in secure drop box locations must be received by or before 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Official election materials will be mailed 30 days before each election. The ROV was required to add secure ballot-box drop off locations throughout the County to fulfill the requirements of AB 37, passed by the California State Assembly, and signed into law by the Governor on September 27, 2021.
