Vital Statistics provides birth certificates for children 2 years old and under.

Registering a Birth
Hospital Births: All births that occur in Solano County hospitals are registered by Public Health Vital Statistics.
Non-Hospital Births: Non-Hospital births can be registered by the physician or midwife (if attended by a medical professional) or the parents within the first year of birth. For more information, visit the Non-Hospital Births

. Appointments are required to register a home birth -- schedule an appointment by calling the office at 707-784-8060. Staff will provide additional information when booking your appointment.
Requesting a Birth Certificate
Certificates can be requested in person, online or by mail. To obtain a certified copy, you must complete the sworn statement included with the birth certificate application form and sign the statement under penalty of perjury. If you mail your request, your sworn statement must be notarized. Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 103526, only specific individuals are permitted to obtain an authorized certified copy of a birth record.
Paying for the Certificate
The fee for a birth certificate is $30. A fee of $20 may be added to expedite the delivery.
For In-Person Orders
You can request for the birth certificate in person at the Vitals Statistics Office at 275 Beck Ave, Fairfield, CA. Payments are accepted by credit card or money order.
For Pickup or Mail Orders
Please follow the following steps listed to place your order:
1. Print the Birth Certificate Application Form.
2. Complete the application including the notarized section, then email the form to email@example.com
3. To pay online, select an option below:
- Pick up the certificate at the office
- Mail the certificate to your address
*If you select the mailing option, please make sure your application is notarized.
If it does not include a notarized statement sworn under penalty of perjury, the request will be marked incomplete and will not be processed.
