The Sealer of Weights and Measures enforces laws and regulations that assure marketplace equity for transactions involving a count, weight, or measure. Inspectors act as an impartial third-party promoting equity and integrity to protect both consumers and businesses in Solano County. Every weighing or measuring device used in a transaction is held to a tolerance fixed tight enough that there is no serious injury to either the buyer or the seller, yet not so tight as to make manufacturing or maintenance costs of equipment disproportionately high.
The Division of Weights & Measures is responsible for regulating a diverse array of products and services. Approximately 7,000 commercial devices from over 600 businesses are inspected in Solano County every year. Each business must register their devices with our office on the first business day of the calendar year. To apply for device registration, or to edit an existing registration, please fill out the application and email it to our office.
Our inspectors also respond to complaints of discrepancies with these devices, credit/debit card skimmers, fuel quality, and more. To file a complaint, please fill out the form and email it to our office.
If you wish to contact our office, give us a call (707) 784-1310, or send us an email [email protected].
