February: “Let’s Go to the Library!”

It’s never too soon to read to your child and instill a lifetime of love for books! Sign up for a library card by bringing a photo ID and proof of current address to your local library. Parents/Guardians must co-sign for minors under 18. Many of the Solano County Libraries offer special story times for Preschoolers age 3-5, Toddler’s age 18-36 months, and even babies age 0-18 months. Reading right from the start provides many benefits for babies.  Reading builds a baby’s language awareness, listening, and memory skills. It also introduces concepts such as stories, letters, colors, and shapes in a fun way. Babies are soothed by the sound and rhythm of their parent’s voice which promotes bonding and closeness. Most of all, reading provides babies information about the world around them and instills a lifelong love of books and learning.
