Solano County Probation College Internship Program

Solano County Probation is actively recruiting for interns interested in working with Probation.  College students in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, or social work majors are welcome to apply.  Gain real world work experience and learn more about the community through this hands-on experience.

 

What does Solano County Probation do? 

Our primary mission is the protection of the community. Our official goal is to effect changes in behavior using casework modalities and monitoring the probationers’ compliance with court ordered terms and conditions of probation.   

 

In other words, we protect the community by working with individuals on probation to help them follow court rules and successfully meet requirements.  


What does a Probation Intern do?   

Working under the direction of a probation officer, the intern may: 

·         Compile data for special projects. 

·         Learn and use the new eProbation database. 

·         Become familiar with clerical aspects and responsibilities of the probation officer. 

·         Observe court proceedings and interviews. 

·         Accompany probation officer in actual field activities at schools or community-based programs. 

·         Perform other related activities. 

What are the minimum qualifications to apply to the internship program? 

To apply to this program, individuals must: 

·         Have a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

·         Have education and/or experience related to criminal justice, sociology, child development, family dynamics, human behavior, psychology, and motivational theories.

·         Have no felony convistions

·         Have no pending charges.

·         Be willing to commit to a minimum of one semester.

·         Be able to pass a background investigation and Live Scan.

·         Provide a letter of recommendation from a college or university indicating permission to participate in an internship with Solano County Probation.


Individuals who are currently on probation or parole are not eligible for this program.
