Solano County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Home

Solano County’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program works to protect local water bodies from pollution. As water flows over streets, driveways, lawns, and sidewalks, it can pick up pollutants from debris and trash to chemicals and dirt. This water can be conveyed directly to a water body, impairing it for wildlife and human use. By enacting Best Management Practices (BMPs) for various activities you can keep common pollutants out of our waterways and improve the community for all.

A
s part of the Clean Water Act (CWA) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program for Small Municipalities, Solano County is required to implement a stormwater management plan with the goal of reducing the discharge of pollutants to the maximum extent practicable. The program areas include public education and outreach, public information and participation, illicit discharge detection and elimination, construction and post-construction stormwater controls for development projects, and good housekeeping for municipal operations.
