Lieutenant Craig Collins started his career with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office in August 2002. As a Deputy-Sheriff, he was assigned to Court Security, Patrol, and Coroner’s Office. During these assignments Craig worked other collateral duties including Field Training Officer, K-9 Handler, and S.W.A.T. team operator. He also provided agency training as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and Tactical Rifle Instructor.
Craig was promoted to Sergeant-Sheriff in December 2015. As a Sergeant, he was a supervisor for Patrol and the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET). In addition to his regular assignments he also supervised the K-9 Unit, the Defensive Tactics Team, as well as being named S.W.A.T. team leader. In 2016, Craig co-created a tactical entry program codifying search and entry techniques for the Sheriff’s Office. In June 2019 Craig Collins was promoted to Lieutenant-Sheriff. He was assigned to the Compliance and Professional Standards Bureau for several months. Craig is currently attending the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) Class 433. He holds numerous professional certificates from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards in Training (POST), including advanced and administration certificates in leading tactical teams and missions. Craig has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management.
