Lieutenant Sean Mattson Patrol Lieutenant
Sean began his sworn law enforcement career with the Williams Police Department in April 2010. While at the Williams Police Department he was assigned to Patrol. Sean was the recipient of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award in 2010, 2011, and 2012. He was also recognized as the department’s Police Officer of the Year in 2011. In May 2013, Sean began his career with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy-Sheriff. Sean was assigned to Patrol, was a Field Training Officer and was part of the Sheriff’s Office Mobile Field Force Team. In 2014, Sean received the Distinguished Service Medal for actions taken in the rescue and assistance of a fellow deputy. Sean was later assigned to Investigations. He received certifications in Homicide and Sexual Assault Investigation from the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation. In April 2019, Sean was promoted to Sergeant-Sheriff. As a sergeant he was assigned to supervise Patrol, the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), Civil, and was assigned as an Investigator in Internal Affairs. He also served as the supervisor for the Sheriff’s sUAS (Drone) Team. In September 2024, Sean was promoted to Lieutenant-Sheriff. He is currently assigned to Patrol, Marine Patrol, the Field Training Program, the sUAS Team, and Fleet. Sean holds numerous certificates from the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Business Management from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Sean is currently attending a part-time Juris Doctor program with Golden Gate University School of Law, which includes instruction at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
